Are you a Spanish/English bilingual high school student in Baltimore?
If so, you may be eligible for an exciting summer program at Johns Hopkins working with JHU doctors and helping the Latino community!
5 week program
Learn about careers in medicine
Support Latino patients receiving care at Hopkins
Work with our professional language interpreters
Get mentored by Hopkins physicians
Receive a $1500 stipend
Eligibility Criteria
1. You must be enrolled in a public high school in Baltimore
2. Your birthday must be after 5/1/1997 (14 to 17 by the start of the program)
3. You must be fluent in Spanish and English (will be assessed by written essays in application and by in person interview)
Application Process:
1. Complete the application form including the two 300 word essays (one in English and one in Spanish)
2. Have 2 teachers complete the Centro SOL recommendation form
3. Submit your current year official transcript (attached to the application form)
4. Send your completed application (form, letters of recommendation, and transcript) to:

Program Details:
Duration: 5 weeks
Program dates: July 6 – August 7, 2015
Schedule: Monday – Friday
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Week 1: Orientation
Week 2-5: Clinical experience working with Hopkins physicians and staff helping Latino non-English speaking patients navigate our health system
Number of students: Six
Stipend: $1500 at completion of the program
Lunch vouchers
MTA passes for the duration of the program

• Application deadline: Feb 19, 2015 by 5 p.m. EST
• Interview dates: Week of March 9, 2015
• Announcement of awardees: March 16, 2015
• Offer acceptance: March 16, 2015
• Completion of Required Paperwork: April/May 2015
