Meet Drew White (a.k.a. Andrés Blanco)

Drew White is a medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, currently taking a year off to pursue a Master in Public Health. He has been a great resource for the community. He leads the Hopkins students association called Bienestar which has provided TB information and vaccines in collaboration with the BCHD. He also supports the Embajadores de Salud wellness group with Centro SOL. In addition, Drew has volunteered at several community events, providing health talks in Spanish and informational sessions in the community. At Hopkins he participates and organizes fairsto bridge the Hopkins student community with the Latino community in Baltimore through Bienestar. He has also serves at the Esperanza Center clinic providing support with the interpretation to Spanish speaking patients. Drew uses all his skills and knowledge to support the Hispanic community in Baltimore.

Nominating Drew for the Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Month award was not difficult. Drew puts his heart and soul to change people’s lives, and helps the Latino community strive in accessing healthcare resources. We are proud to partner with Bienestar and work with Drew. We are happy that he is receiving this award “to recognize the work of individuals and organizations working with the Latino Community in the City of Baltimore.”
