Last June 2023, Centro SOL and the Mental Health First Aid Association of Maryland partnered to train the network of mental health ambassadors. Thanks to our instructor for the day Jhoselyn Rodriguez from Coaching Salud Holistica!

The mental health ambassadors are trained in the basics of mental health and depression in the Latino community. Training the community in mental health is crucial. It empowers individuals to recognize and support those experiencing mental health challenges. Education can reduce stigma, promote early intervention, and help create a more compassionate society. By fostering understanding, empathy, and effective communication, community training plays a vital role in promoting mental well-being and building a supportive network for all.

Centro SOL sponsored in part by The Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Charitable Foundation, has worked on the Addressing Mental Health Challenges for Latino Immigrants project to tackle the most pressing barriers to mental health care access. As part of the efforts to address stigma, our team in collaboration with the Latino Mental Health Action Network, developed the stigma campaign Fortalece tu Bienestar www.fortalecebaltimore.org and established the network of mental health ambassadors.

Join us to congratulate these brave and resilient individuals for receiving the Adult Mental Health First Aid certification!
