Youth Summer Program

Goal: To expose bilingual high school students to the medical field by offering meaningful opportunities to work with JHU School of Medicine faculty in clinical settings that serve Latino patients with limited-English proficiency. The program hosts six outstanding high school students to experience the hospital environment. The year of 2016 the program hosted 6 news students, and 6 returning students who received a more in-depth experience in research. Annual Health Fair
Since 2015, Centro SOL has hosted an annual health fair early in the year, to kick off healthy resolutions for our families. In 2017, the annual health fair has the “health resources for all” (recursos de salud para todos) theme, to empower the community to utilize existing resources and to prevent conditions like diabetes or hypertension. In response to the growing Latino population in the Bayview/Greektown/Highlandtown and Dundalk areas, the health fair will take place at John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School.
