Summer Programs
Welcome to the Centro SOL Summer Programs! Centro SOL will be offering TWO programs for the summer of 2021. Applications have closed for Summer 2021 and will reopen again in December for next year.
Summer Scholars Program
The Summer Scholars Program’s mission is to expose bilingual and bi-cultural youth to careers in medicine, research, and healthcare and equip them to make informed decisions about their education and their careers. The curriculum incorporates a student-centered approach and includes workshops to develop and reinforce professional development, college readiness and community outreach.
Eligibility
1. Must be high school student in 9th to 12th grade
2. Students must be fluent in Spanish and English (this will be assessed through written essays in the application process and in the interview)
Program details
Duration: 5 weeks
Dates: June 28 – July 30, 2021
Program Schedule: 10:00AM-3:00PM, including a one-hour break for lunch
Location: Program will be 100% virtual in 2021
Benefits: Up to $1,200 after completing the program
Summer Engagement Program
The Summer Engagement Program has expanded its reach to allow more immigrant Latinx youth the opportunities to gain soft skills while also helping youth realize the importance of their bilingualism in a professional setting. This program is in collaboration with Baltimore City’s YouthWorks program.
Eligibility
1. Youth must be between 14-21 years of age and a Baltimore City resident
2. Youth must be able to speak Spanish and some English
Program details
Duration: 5 weeks
Dates: June 28 – July 30, 2021
Program Schedule: 4 hours per day (youth must be available 5 hours)
Location: Program will be 100% virtual in 2021
Benefits: Up to $1,200 after completing the program
