Holiday Celebration – a welcoming night

On December 22, 2016 with all kinds of support of many, the holiday Campaign “Happy Child, Happy Family” was a great success. The night took place at Living Classrooms Patterson Park, and hosted 200 individuals including adults and children, celebrating a special holiday night. The celebration mobilized dozens of people who supported at different capacities, from packing to shopping, to delivering gifts and serving dinner. Watch the video here/Mira el video del evento. In light of the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, we were one of many organizations who felt it necessary to address the heightened uncertainty and concern among the immigrant population here in Baltimore.  After reaching out to a number of other community organizations in the greater Baltimore community, it became clear that our initiative should be centered on two main components: mental health and knowledge of rights. Reading and connecting

July 7.- ¡Grandes noticias! Great news Centro SOL has been awarded by the B’More Read More organization with a Little Free Library to be placed at our Children’s Medical Practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview. With this project, we connect Baltimore Latino families to programs promoting reading and school readiness. Books will be available at no cost at the clinic for any children and their families, and we are planning to stuck it with bilingual books, to reduce the language barrier to make this experience mom-child more pleasant. Teen Testimonios New Team Member!

The Teen Testimonios Summer Program, funded by The Blaustein Foundation, is an expansion of the year-long program Teen Testimonios that started with the support of the Urban Health Insitute, to support newly arrived teenagers who experienced difficult situations on their journey to the U.S. Jacqueline Hernandez is the new assistant coordinator for the Teen Testimonios Summer Program, she will be working closely with the participants, in an engaging and rewarding summer experience.
