Hispanic Heritage Month – our youth recognized

The Hispanic Heritage Month has a still-new history as a celebration in the U.S. It was established to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Latino and Hispanic community. Today we would like to recognize the hard work that parents put into their children’s education, today, thanks to those efforts we can see young Latinos like Jose Dominguez, and Jennifer Mendez, awarded by Baltimore’s Mayor, as Emerging Leaders. Muevetón – Move it on 2016 – another great success for health and community

On September 17, on its fourth anniversary, Muevetón  opened with a 5K fun race at Patterson Park. The event received around 300 neighbors, adults and families, who enjoyed of a free healthy breakfast, health resources, physical activity, giveaways, and more. With more than 20 providers, this annual event was presented by Friends of Patterson Park, Living Classrooms and Centro SOL, and sponsored for second consecutive year by Medicine for the Greater Good at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Teen Testimonios – closing session- última sesión

August 24.- Two months in the summer helped us to meet wonderful young Latinos, and learn more about the families and the reunification process. The participants of Teen Testimonios Summer Program attend different schools in the city (Digital, Patterson, Lakeland, Benjamin Franklin). Teen Testimonios visit NASA

August 19.- Teen Testimonios Summer Program has been operating during the summer months July and August. The students in this programs have been exposed to resources and experiences to strengthen their connection with their new home. Reading and connecting

July 7.- ¡Grandes noticias! Great news Centro SOL has been awarded by the B’More Read More organization with a Little Free Library to be placed at our Children’s Medical Practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview. With this project, we connect Baltimore Latino families to programs promoting reading and school readiness. Books will be available at no cost at the clinic for any children and their families, and we are planning to stuck it with bilingual books, to reduce the language barrier to make this experience mom-child more pleasant.
