August 24.- Two months in the summer helped us to meet wonderful young Latinos, and learn more about the families and the reunification process. The participants of Teen Testimonios Summer Program attend different schools in the city (Digital, Patterson, Lakeland, Benjamin Franklin). August 19.- Teen Testimonios Summer Program has been operating during the summer months July and August. The students in this programs have been exposed to resources and experiences to strengthen their connection with their new home. Baltimore as a welcoming city has many things to offer to kids and their families, but it is important to provide a hub for them to learn where and how to find those things, as offered at Teen Testimonios. July 7.- ¡Grandes noticias! Great news Centro SOL has been awarded by the B’More Read More organization with a Little Free Library to be placed at our Children’s Medical Practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview. With this project, we connect Baltimore Latino families to programs promoting reading and school readiness. Books will be available at no cost at the clinic for any children and their families, and we are planning to stuck it with bilingual books, to reduce the language barrier to make this experience mom-child more pleasant. June 24.- The students who will be joining us during summer 2016 were invited to attend the first gruop activity before the beginning of the program at a community organization, Gallery Church. New and returning students were invited to be part of a retreat “Educación más allá de la escuela” to empower leadership, peer connection, and community engagement. June 8.- The Latino Family Advisory Board had their last meeting of the school year. They discussed about the new Care-A-Van design, a very dynamic conversation around what and how the new mobile unit should have to welcome community.
